ABOUT SUMMIT COUNTY PRESCHOOL
Our Mission
Our mission is to foster a nurturing and inspiring environment where young children thrive through play-based learning. We are committed to providing a creative curriculum that ignites curiosity and imagination, while incorporating conscious discipline practices that promote emotional intelligence and positive relationships. By prioritizing holistic development, we empower children to explore, learn, and grow as confident, compassionate individuals.

Our Curriculum
SCP staff use The Creative
Curriculum and GOLD assessments for all age groups as a resource for all classrooms. Our curriculum goals focus on Social/Emotional skills, Cognitive Skills, Physical and language skills. To learn more about The Creative Curriculum Gold, visit:
Our Goals
-
Social Development: Support children in building positive relationships, feeling comfortable in group settings, trusting their environment, and learning to communicate and cooperate with others. Preschool social development focuses on socialization—learning the values, norms, and behaviors of their community. It’s also about growing into confident, capable individuals.
-
Emotional Development: Encourage children to understand and express their emotions, build healthy self-esteem, experience pride in their accomplishments, and develop both independence and self-regulation.
-
Physical Development: Guide children in developing confidence in their physical abilities, improving coordination, and strengthening both large and small muscle groups. This includes both gross motor skills (like running and jumping) and fine motor skills (like drawing or using tools).
-
Cognitive Development: Nurture children’s thinking skills through communication, exploration, and problem-solving. Cognitive development shapes how children understand their world, process information, and build the foundation for lifelong learning.
